Human Rights Activists Appeal to Authorities to Release Tofig Yagublu

Members of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on human rights from among human rights defenders are holding discussions with representatives of state bodies for the release of opposition leader Tofig Yagublu from prison. Turan was informed about this by a member of the JWG, human rights activist Novella Jafaroglu.
According to her, the members of the JWG appeal to their partners in the JWG from among representatives of government agencies, deputies, members of the commission on pardon, and heads of law enforcement agencies.

Jafaroglu noted that human rights activists also raise the issue of other political prisoners.
The JWG was established in 2005 and recreated in 2014, and includes representatives of both civil society and various branches of government.
Currently, human rights defenders are represented in the JWG by Novella Jafaroglu, Saida Gojamanli, Saadat Bananyarli, Avaz Hasanov, Arzu Abdullayeva, Mirvari Gahramanli, and Chingiz Ganizadeh.
