"We Are In Touch With Azerbaijani Officials" — State Department Reacts To Incident Involving Embassy of Azerbaijan

The United States "condemns any form of violence and is committed to ensuring the safety and security of foreign diplomatic missions," the State Department spokesperson Ned Price told TURAN's Washington correspondent on Wednesday when commenting on reports about an Azerbaijani Embassy vehicle being shot by gunfire in Washington D.C.
"We were informed that there was an incident involving the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Washington, D.C., on October 11, 2022," Price said in response to TURAN's inquiry.
"I cannot speak to the specifics of this incident because it is an ongoing investigation. We refer you to the United States Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department for further information" Price noted. "We are in touch with Azerbaijani officials."
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Wednesday announced the incident, saying that it summoned the U.S. charge d'affaires in Baku and expressed "serious concern and dissatisfaction over the incident."
Price told TURAN that they have seen the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry press release and are "in the midst of looking into the incident."
"We are in touch with Azerbaijani Embassy officials and share both threat information and security recommendations on a regular basis," he added.
The United States is "committed to ensuring the safety and security of foreign diplomatic missions. Our understanding is that no Embassy personnel were harmed," the spokesperson concluded.
Recall that on the night of October 11, unknown people fired at the car of the Azerbaijani embassy in Washington, no one was injured.
