This website has been
established with the support of the Caspian-Black
Sea Studies Foundation (Sofia, Bulgaria) as a platform for
discussion and the constructive exchange of views on the most relevant trends
in the Black Sea, Caspian, and Caucasus regions. The Foundation serves as an
important venue for dialogue, expert discussions, and the exchange of ideas
among political scientists, diplomats, researchers, and representatives of
civil society.
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation includes leading Bulgarian
scholars and experts: Plamen Dimitrov Petrov — Doctor of Political
Sciences; Nina Angelova Dyulgerova — Doctor of Economic Sciences,
Professor; Biser Todorov Banchev — Doctor of Historical Sciences,
Professor. Their academic and professional expertise forms the intellectual
foundation of the Foundation’s activities and ensures a high standard of
analytical work.
Our focus is not on the news cycle, but on explaining processes. We aim not merely to report events, but to show their causes, context, and possible consequences.
The editorial team works with experts, analysts, and researchers to present diverse perspectives and foster a substantive discussion of complex regional issues. Particular attention is given to energy security, geoeconomic shifts, and the foreign policy strategies of regional states.
We adhere to the principles of independence, verifiability of information, and transparency of sources. Our goal is to contribute to a deeper and more balanced understanding of the region, which is often viewed in a fragmented way or through external interpretations, through high-quality expert analysis.
Its priority areas also include:
Despite the fact that the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the Caucasus have traditionally been arenas of geopolitical and geoeconomic competition among major global and regional actors and their respective blocs, there remains a lack of awareness of this region within the European academic and expert community.
We are open to cooperation proposals from authors and organizations.
The incorporation documents (charter, registration details) are available for download.
Sincerely,
Dr. Plamen Petrov
