- prospects for expanding transit routes through Azerbaijan;
- energy issues and potential new projects in the oil and gas sector;
- regional security, including the situation in the South Caucasus.
Trilateral Meeting of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran to Be Held in Baku

On October 13-14, Baku will host a trilateral meeting of representatives from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran. The talks will take place against the backdrop of intensifying regional processes and will focus on issues of economic cooperation, transport integration, and security.
According to preliminary information, the parties intend to discuss the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor, the expansion of energy cooperation, and coordination of efforts in the field of regional stability.
The agenda is expected to center on:
Baku has already hosted meetings in this format before. For Azerbaijan, this dialogue is an opportunity to strengthen its role as a key transport and logistics hub between East and West, as well as to balance the interests of Moscow and Tehran.
Russia, under the pressure of sanctions, is seeking new trade and transit routes, while Iran is interested in gaining access to international markets through the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan, in turn, seeks to use this moment to consolidate its regional role and attract investments.
This meeting may become one of the most significant diplomatic platforms of the autumn: it is precisely around Azerbaijan that the interests of Moscow and Tehran intersect. Baku is likely to attempt to present itself not only as a transit partner but also as a political center of the region. What matters is how successfully the parties manage to align their positions on transport routes and energy projects, since the future of the North-South corridor – and the overall balance of power in the South Caucasus – depends on this.
