On February 28 the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) published records of arms-production contracts for the fiscal year of 2020. According to Pentagon, Georgia, along with other U.S. partner states, will receive a new batch of Javelin missiles. “Works will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of June 25, 2020,” reports Civil.ge, with reference to the official information of the DoD.

U.S. first approved Georgia to purchase 410 Javelin missiles and 72 Javelin command launch units in November, 2017 for an estimated cost of USD 75 million. The sophisticated weaponry arrived in Georgia in January 2018.

Javelin missiles, described as the world’s most lethal one-man-portable anti-armor weapon system by its producer – Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture, are widely used by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps.
