Romania's Defence Minister Ciuca meets representatives of Atlantic Council in Munich

Minister of National Defence of Romania Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca reiterated the importance that Romania attaches to the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America, in all fields of activity, with an emphasis on the strategic and defence ones, at the bilateral meeting in Munich with President and CEO of the Atlantic Council Frederick Kempe, accprding to Nineoclock.ro.
The Romanian minister thanked for the constant support granted in promoting Romania’s security agenda and expressed the belief that this trend will continue. He also attended a roundtable discussion chaired by retired US Marine Corps General James Jones, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and executive chairman emeritus of the Atlantic Council.
According to the cited source, Minister Ciuca recalled the fruitful collaboration within the multilateral projects such as the Three Seas Initiative and Military Mobility, emphasizing that military mobility remains a priority both on the national agenda, as well as at NATO and the European Union level, being a critical element determining the consolidation of the Allied defence and deterrence posture.
“As regards the development of the European transport infrastructure, it is important to take into account the need to ensure a geographical balance and the connectivity of all transport areas – land, air and sea,” the National Defence minister affirmed.
During Saturday afternoon, upon the invitation of General (USMC ret.) James Jones, Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca participated in the roundtable discussion titled “Secured 5G in Defence, National Security and Society”.
The Minister of National Defense, Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, has participated between February 14-16, in the Romanian delegation led by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, in the 56th edition of the Munich Security Conference.
