White House To Host Zelenskyy Tomorrow To Underscore 'Unshakeable Commitment' In Support Of Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden has invited his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the White House, 'to underscore the United States’ unshakeable commitment to supporting the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against Russia’s brutal invasion,' as Biden's Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre put it, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
The meeting on Tuesday comes as the Buden administration warned it would run out of money for Ukraine aid in weeks unless feuding U.S. lawmakers act.
“As Russia ramps up its missile and drone strikes against Ukraine, the leaders will discuss Ukraine’s urgent needs and the vital importance of the United States’ continued support at this critical moment,” Jean-Pierre noted in a statement Sunday night.
Zelenskiyy will arrive in Washington today on a working visit that would include “a series of meetings and discussions,” according to Ukrainian officials. Biden and Zelenskyy will hold a joint press conference at the White House after talks, officials said.
Zelenskiy has also been invited to address U.S. Senators Tuesday morning and to join a private meeting with House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson. Republicans in the Senate last week blocked $106bn in emergency aid primarily for Ukraine and Israel after conservatives balked at the exclusion of immigration reforms they had demanded as part of the package.
