Washington Prepares For Zelenskyy Visit Today

The White House and Congressional security officials on Tuesday were laying the groundwork for a landmark visit today from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian president, who is currently the target of Russian forces amid its brutal assault on his country, will meet with President Biden at the White House today before addressing lawmakers during a joint session of Congress in the House chamber, demonstrating the strong, bipartisan support for Ukraine, a senior administration official told reporters.
Biden has invited Zelenskyy to visit Washington D.C. to "underscore the United States’ enduring commitment to Ukraine," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
"Three hundred days ago, Russia launched a brutal assault against Ukraine. In response, President Biden rallied the world to support the people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity." Karine Jean-Pierre added.
During the visit, President Biden will announce a significant new package of security assistance to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression, the Whitw House said.
"The visit will underscore the United States’ steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes, including through the provision of economic, humanitarian, and military assistance," the Press Secretary added.
According to multiple administration sources, Biden and his team are planning to announce the delivery of a PATRIOT missile battle system today to help Ukraine with its air defense.
