Russia is ready to provide all possible assistance to move Armenia and Turkey towards, MFA official says

“We saw a positive signal exchange between Ankara and Yerevan a while ago. Russia has always been interested in the normalization of the relations between Turkey and Armenia,” said the official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at today’s briefing, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
She recalled the Zurich Protocols in this context.
“You know that Syria directly participated in signing process of Zurich protocols. Moscow was the main initiator and mediator in the signing of Zurich protocols in 2009. Zurich protocols envisaged cooperation between Turkey and Armenia without putting forward any condition. Unfortunately, initiative achieved by Russian mediation did not realize, the sides dis not carry out this initiative, this was already own will of each country,” she noted.
M. Zakharova emphasized that Russia is ready to provide all possible assistance in the rapprochement of two neighboring countries - Turkey and Armenia, taking into account mutual respect and mutual interests.
