US can contribute to establishing sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia - Ilham Aliyev

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory message to President of the United States of America Joseph Biden on the Independence Day of the United States.
The dynamics of the development of ties, which in a number of areas have the character of strategic partnership, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States of America, is satisfying, Aliyev said.
“Large-scale energy projects, the strengthening of international peace and security, the fight against terrorism, our close cooperation within the framework of NATO's resolute mission in Afghanistan are important areas that characterize the Azerbaijani-American relations. We highly appreciate the support provided by the United States in the diversification of energy supply routes, in particular in the successful completion of the Southern Gas Corridor,”vthe message goes on to say.
Last year, as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the occupation of the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia was terminated, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was restored, the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions was ensured. Aliyev stressed that the end of the conflict created a new geopolitical reality in the region, formed a favorable basis for sustainable peace, economic revival and regional cooperation.
“I believe that the United States, in accordance with the prevailing realities, can make a significant contribution to establishing sustainable peace and creating an atmosphere of trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on mutual respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders. Currently, restoration work is being carried out in the liberated territories. We would like to see American companies as partners in this process,” the President of Azerbaijan said.
The letter expressed confidence that the relations of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States will continue to develop and strengthen through joint efforts in accordance with the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
